We are all aware of the protests rising up across America against the brutal violence that black Americans have endured, resulting in so many tragic, unwarranted deaths.

Justice for George Lloyd has today been achieved, as the Minneapolis officers have been charged with second-degree murder.

We may not be racist, but in the privileged position that we are in, Izzy and I are pledging to educate ourselves, and raise our voices that we are anti-racist. Equality is not rife for those from BAME backgrounds.

At our school, notably an International school, we were not taught about black history. This should be a compulsory part of primary/secondary education so that those of a privileged position are aware of how they can change the ingrained racism in society.
